Lauren first came to Washington, D.C. from Raleigh, North Carolina to attend Georgetown University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  She then spent several years working in the business community before attending law school.  She gained experience with the day-to-day challenges of running a business by helping to manage a local, family-owned restaurant.  She also gained experience with macro-level business challenges while working as an Associate with a boutique management consulting company.  As a consultant, Lauren helped several Fortune 500 companies address competitive and operational challenges.  This extensive business background has given her an in-depth understanding of how the corporate world operates.

Lauren decided to attend law school in her home state of North Carolina at Wake Forest University School of Law.  During her tenure there she served as an elected Student Bar Association Representative and as a member of the Public Interest Law Organization (PILO) and Women in Law.  In her work with PILO, she designed and executed a brand new fundraising event that helped students by providing a means to recycle study aides while also raising money for the organization.  Lauren worked with several professors as a Research Assistant.  The projects she focused upon were: the marketing of mutual fund securities; preparation of a constitutional law textbook; and creation of materials to be used in a course that compares corporate governance and operation with our democratic system of government.  During her second year of law school, Lauren arranged to study at George Washington University School of Law in order to accept a Law Clerk position at National Public Radio’s (NPR) Office of the General Counsel in Washington, D.C.  Lauren earned CALI awards for the highest grade in Non-Profit Organizations, Comparative Law, and Negotiations.  Lauren is licensed in Virginia and joined Berk Law in late 2011.
